See "TextNow Proxy" Contact During Outbound Calls

Good news! Seeing "TextNow Proxy" number is not a problem and, in fact, is a confirmation that the service is working as expected!

Our unique technology allows your device to switch between CDMA (2G) and data networks (3G and LTE), based on the quality of the network you are using at any given moment. During calls, our technology will decide whether the data connection is strong enough for you to experience a high quality of audio. If it is not, then your call will instead be routed through the traditional audio network (2G - CDMA) so that your call quality can be as high as possible.

The TextNow proxy number is simply a routing number used by our back-end system to complete the call. You can simply disregard it and feel confident knowing that you are benefiting from using this technology to provide you with the best possible quality of audio.

    Where and how do you give your contacts without a picture a avatar like it said you could in the description of your app?

    That's a great question!

    In the TextNow app, tap on the conversation with the person you want to add an avatar to. On the Conversation page, tap on menu icon in the top left-hand corner (it has three dots on it), and choose Add To Contacts (if it's a new contact), or View Contact (if it's somebody already in your Contacts app).

    From there, your phone's Contact app will open. Depending on the app, there should be an Edit button on the contacts' avatar to add or change a picture associated with the contact. Once the picture is updated, those changes will be seen in TextNow as well.

    You can! All available messages and call logs will be on your main Home page of the TextNow app, and you can view them online here by signing into your account and clicking on your Text & Call Online page.

    I am using textnow in Pakistan but it only makes call when internet speed is 100 mbps in my office but at home it is 1 mbps and it does not work for calling further i also dont receive any incoming call on both cases i only receive voice mails later on moreover i want to get a sim from textnow with short package i need to know will it work with my iphone 5s and warid network and what amount should i need to add in my account for making local and international calls and wjats the ways to add money thanks

    Hi Harris,

    I apologize for the inconvenience, but TextNow only provides sim cards and the TextNow Wireless service to the USA. As for the free service, the application is only downloadable in Canada and the US at the moment, and is only as reliable as the wifi you're using. As you stated, at home your wifi is slower than at your office, and therefore it may simply not be quick enough for you to receive your calls in real time. Try refreshing your modem to see if this helps speed up your service while at home. :)

    The only problem I am having is that the first Time I answer, wifi or not wifi, the call is good for about 4 seconds then I hear bass sounds so bad or we are both muffled so bad we have to hang up and recall , then it's perfect. Is there anything I can do to fix this,. I love text now and my phone, what can I do if anything to rectify this. I don't wanna have this happen on a work call. Oh and I have​ a family member having the same issue. Is anything we can do to fix this. Please help ASAP thanks you

    Why did u bill me for aomething i didnt order. U had no right to bill my credit card. Ir customer service sucks. I dont have time to spend an hour on your chat line to be disconnected because of your shoddy service meanwhile you've also billed me for an upgrade I never asked for and have them the nerve not even give me the $20 credit that's promised on the second month this company is very shoddy

    Hi Jam,

    I have taken a look at your account and see that there are no device orders on your account. You did activate service last week though and originally chose the Short plan to active your first month free. However, after you chose that plan it looks like you upgraded to the Promo Venti plan, which is a difference of $26 so you were charged for that upgrade. I do see that you chose to downgrade the plan soon after the upgrade, but since the charge was already processed the system leaves your account on that Venti plan until next month so you can use the data you paid for, and next month you will be downgraded back to the Short plan.

    I can tell that there was some confusion so I have gone ahead and refunded the charge for you today so you can continue using your first month free. Next month your account is going to renew on that Short plan for $13.99 unless you choose to upgrade through your TextNow app. If you have any questions or concerns going forward, please let us know.
