How Do I Call Using TextNow?

 



 



Using the TextNow app, you're able to call any number in the US and Canada! Here's how it works on your mobile device:

1. Open your TextNow app and tap on the dial-pad icon in the top right-hand corner . (If you don't see the dial-pad icon, tap on the main menu button  and then tap on Conversations.) 

2. This will bring you to the Calling page. Below are the Android and iOS versions, respectively:

3. You can place a call directly from this page by typing in the ten-digit number you're calling (area code + seven digit number) and then tapping the green Call button in the bottom-center of that screen. 

4. To call a number from your Contacts, tap on the Contact icon in the bottom-right of the screen if you're using Android and the bottom-left of the screen if you're using iOS (they're the icons that look like a little person), and then tap on the contact name you'd like to call.

    Wait I have to be on wifi in order for my phone to work?

    Hi, Angela:

    Rest assured, your TextNow phone does not have to be on wifi to work. When wifi is unavailble, your phone will use Sprint's 3G/4G data network to be able to place calls and send texts.

    Thanks for contacting TextNow support!

    If you have activated your own phone on TextNow you will need to use the textNow app to make all of your calls and send text messages. If you are using the built-in phone application you will not be able to call out. I have also had my colleague reach out to you with some troubleshooting steps in case that is not the main issue.

    I'm afraid I don't see any plan under the login you used to post your message. Did you sign up for TextNow with another login, by any chance?

    You can chat with one of our chat agents available right here on this page, and they can double-check your phone's availability and also make sure you're using the correct login.

    I ordered a phone from you all and the ups people told me to contact text now to start a lost package investigation or track it down I sat on the support line for 50 mins and never got anyone online it says my plan is out in 20 days but I've never even received the phone....... Help Please

    Hello, so I just bought a phone from textnow. This might be a stupid question, so with this service I can make calls over wifi and without it? When i'm not making calls or texts over wifi, am I using the data plan?? If not, will I be charged more for making calls or texts not over wifi? Again, sorry if this is stupid. I've never had a cellphone before so I have no idea how this works.

    Hi Ebony,

    No need to apologize, that's what we're here for :)

    We run a VoIP service, meaning that all of your calls and texts are supported over an internet connection (whether it be your own Wi-Fi or the data that we provide you with). As long as you are in a Sprint coverage, you should be able to use your data for calls, texts, and everything else on the phone. If you go over your high speed data limit, we won't charge you nor cut you off. We simply put you down on the slower 2G network, which is unlimited, so you can keep enjoying your calling and texting!

    Thank you! I like the phone so far, so I think I will keep it and then upgrade in the future. I also have another question. Do you know how I can set up my phone number to show my name on the caller id?? I asked about this on the forum, and the person told me the name that is associated with my textnow account should show up, but it doesnt. When I call the housephone, my number shows up as Woodstown NJ.

    Hi Ebony,

    I can confirm that your phone numbers' area code is a NJ number, and furthermore, your particular prefix (the next 3 numbers after the area code) correspond to the Woodstown area.

    I'm afraid that we do not currently support Caller ID with regards to your name showing up, and that would have to be set up by your contacts (they can add your name and number to their list) in order for your name to be reflected properly.

    I am from NJ, but is it possible for me to change my number to one that corresponds to my city?

    Thanks for the question! TextNow operates as a VoIP (Voice over IP) service, meaning all calls and messages are routed through a data connection (WiFi/Mobile Data). As a result, we do not support the conventional calling and messages apps within the device.

    If you upgrade your plan during your billing cycle and before you use up all your high speed data, it will add the new data to your plan and raise the high speed data up to whichever plan you choose.

    I have been on this service for a while. I have 2 phones one for my husband which works poorly and then mine. Making a phone call is such a hassle. You have to wait so long for it to connect the when it does the person can't hear you or you can't hear them. My husband's phone starts ringing while he is on the phone talking to someone. It rings like the person is calling him back. I know this is not suppose to happen so why does it?
