How Do I Call Using TextNow?

 



 



Using the TextNow app, you're able to call any number in the US and Canada! Here's how it works on your mobile device:

1. Open your TextNow app and tap on the dial-pad icon in the top right-hand corner . (If you don't see the dial-pad icon, tap on the main menu button  and then tap on Conversations.) 

2. This will bring you to the Calling page. Below are the Android and iOS versions, respectively:

3. You can place a call directly from this page by typing in the ten-digit number you're calling (area code + seven digit number) and then tapping the green Call button in the bottom-center of that screen. 

4. To call a number from your Contacts, tap on the Contact icon in the bottom-right of the screen if you're using Android and the bottom-left of the screen if you're using iOS (they're the icons that look like a little person), and then tap on the contact name you'd like to call.

    I've ordered a moto g3 phone and been on a textnow plan for little over a week now and everything's working out fine so far. I use xfinity wifi and there's hotspots all over so I haven't had to use much data as of yet. So far so good... The moto g3 is actually a great phone for textnow's price and plan.

    Kevin, 5 months ago you told Angela Dixon that her phone doesn't have to be on WiFi to work which is untrue. I say that because the phone i putchased isnt working to make calls unless im on wifi.

    If you have an active monthly plan on your TextNow account, you should be able to use the phone anywhere that the mobile network is available.

    right now i have metro..
    i pay 60 a month..if i was 2 get a plan through y'all wuld i need 2 have internet cus i don't have internet...so i use my hotspot from my provider which it'z metro

    We do not offer our service as a replacement for home internet, and in general do not support hotspot use. I am certain we can assist you on the affordability of your current phone service, but cannot really assist in providing internet to the household.

    We do provide unlimited data on our 2G network once you're over your high speed amount in accordance with our FairUse Policy. (www.TextNow.com/FairUse) Additionally here's a support article in regards to best managing data usage!

    Sorry to hear that you're having phone issues! I would recommend reaching out to our live chat support, they are available weekdays from 9am - 9pm EST and weekends 9am - 4pm EST.     If you're having trouble with your calls going through, I would recommend trying the steps outlined in our support article here. Once those steps are done you can test the calling to see if it's improved.     Hi Thomas,

    If you're using TextNow on your phone, you can see your saved message and call logs in the Conversations tab of the app. If you're using your account on a web browser, that same information can be found at www.textnow.com/messaging. Your contacts will be saved to the device that you're using as opposed to the TextNow account itself, so this means your contacts list may vary if you're using the app on your phone vs. on a laptop or computer.

    I have a phone already and my phone provider was metro PCS can I just buy a textnow sim and will it work for my phone I would really like to know because I'm thinking about purchasing a sim asap if it work thank you

    We would need to verify the IMEI number of that phone to check if it compatible with our SIM card, and the device will also have to be carrier-unlocked. Please reach out to us through our live chat support portal so we can check that for you and hopefully get you a SIM card so you can start service with us :)

    Hey Kevin! It seems as though you should be received data service with your device. Have you ensured that your mobile data is turned on in your settings?

    So say I am out and not on wifi. I go to make a call and talk to someone for a little bit. Am I using my data? or is the call not using any of my data up. like does text now detect whether the data I use is from a call or not and not take up data with calls and txts or is the calls using my data for the month?

    So I can't make normal calls without being on TextNow app. Even though I paid for the phone line and web 1.5gigs. Please let me know if I am wrong bc this does not sound right to me

    Hey Joe! It appears as though you are using our free app on your own device. In that case, any calls and texts through TextNow will be using up your own data plan with your carrier.
    If you were to use our service, your calls and texts would not be counted toward your data.

    Hey Richard- that is absolutely normal. Since our service is VoIP, we can only support calls through the TextNow app with an internet connection. For this reason, we are unable to access your own device's native calling and messaging apps, so you would need to use the TextNow app exclusively!
