Charging and Battery Life

If you're experiencing problems with your battery not holding a charge, or losing its charge too quickly, here are some steps to try and isolate the problem:

My Phone Isn’t Charging

  • Faulty Charger: Try a different charger on your phone, as it may be a problem with the charging cable as opposed to the handset.
  • Change The Battery: If your device has a removable battery, try using another compatible battery with your device. If the other battery charges and holds a charge, it may be a bad battery. Contact us at orders@textnow.com for additional assistance.

The Battery Is Draining Unusually Fast

Try these trouble-shooting steps to extend the battery life of your phone.

  • Go to Battery under the Settings application
  • Scroll down and check which apps are running
  • If an app is using up more than 10% of the battery, uninstall and reinstall or force stop the app

If your device has a removable battery, you can also try taking out the battery for a couple of minutes to clear any settings that may cause overheating. Please do not attempt to remove any battery that is non-removable.

Also, most Android devices have a Battery Saver setting which can greatly extend the life of your battery. You can usually find that setting under Settings > Battery > Battery Saver.

If those steps don't resolve your battery problems, please contact Support at orders@textnow.com for further help, or speak to one of our chat agents on our Support pages during regular business hours: Monday to Friday 9am-10pm, and Saturday-Sunday 9am-5pm (Eastern time).

Purchased a new phone charged it within 5 minutes it said 100% so I started to set up now the phone completely turns off every 5 or so minutes and after I stop using it and says 57% phone won't turn on unless it is on the charger screen keeps glitching, although I am connected to wifi and have the text now service I can't do anything on the phone. I want my money back seems like textnow sends faulty phones that do not work so there's no point in me keeping this

I'm traveling in Ireland right now...when I attempt to charge my phone, it will NOT. I have an adapter/converter to use. The charger indicator light comes on but when I plug in the phone the indicator light goes out & the phone does not charge. I'm having no problem charging other devices. Now, I have NO phone & NO camera to use on my trip.

    Hi Barbara,

The Moto G that you have does not have an internal voltage converter, so as a result you will have to ensure that the adapter you're using is a voltage converter as well as an outlet adapter, otherwise the voltage difference may keep the device from charging properly. It is also possible that if the adapter you're using did not convert the voltage your phone or charging cord may have been damaged which would keep the phone from being able to charge going forward.

I might recommend that you find a local electronics shop to see if they can take a look at your device and determine what is causing the issue. For further assistance you can email us at community@textnow.com
