Check For Coverage In My Area

Our TextNow phones are powered by nationwide 3G/4G networks, so you can use your device even off of WiFi.

If you live in an area that does not have data, it is strongly recommended to stick with the free app instead of wireless, as the free app will work over an existing wifi connection.

To check the coverage map in your area, head to our Sim Card page and click on View Coverage Map:

That'll bring you to our coverage maps where you can see your coverage based on the device you have (or are interested in buying):

I checked the coverage in my area it shows off-network roaming does that mean I won't be able to use this service?

    Hey Michele,

If the coverage in your area is "Off Network Roaming" then it will likely not work for you. TextNow does not support roaming, so If you are going to be in an area on the map that has that designation, then you likely would not get a signal.

Will text now work in countrys that are on the international partner list? Like if i am going to be in curacao(netherland antilles)... and i have a text now acct can i text the United states numbers without being on wifi??

Hey John, that's a great question!

I'm afraid that we do not support international roaming at this point in time, so you would only be able to use your TextNow account with a Wi-Fi connection while visiting international countries!

    Hi there,

Thanks for your interest in TextNow! We are still working on breaking into the Canadian marketplace so our wireless plans aren't currently available right now in Canada. However, if you would like an update once the service becomes available to you, please head over to our store page, once there you will be greeted with a pop up message that will allow you to enter your email address for Canadian service updates :)

Then wait for me to activate it.

Hey Jon! As long as your device is GSM-unlocked and compatible, you can certainly purchase one of our SIM cards, and the month of service won't start until you complete your activation

If I bring my own phone can I keep the text now app phone number I have been using?

    Erin TextNow Support

    Hey there,

If you activate your own device with a TextNow plan you can definitely keep the number you currently have on your own TextNow account. Just make sure that you are logged into your existing account when you activate your SIM card.

    Hi there,

Our Wireless service is not currently available outside of the US. We appreciate your interest in TextNow but don't have a timeline available for you at this time for when we will be able to offer our wireless services internationally.

I'm going to be in New Zealand later this year; I know I will need to be on wifi in order to use my phone during that time (and I may just purchase a prepaid "burner" phone for temporary use). However, will I still be able to receive phone calls and texts at my normal, US number while on wifi in New Zealand, or will calls and texts have to originate with me? Will I still need to purchase international calling credits to place or receive calls on my normal device? If texting my phone number as normal doesn't work, is there another way people could text me while I'm abroad to ensure it goes to my device?

    Hi Megan,

As long as you're on WIFI while travelling you should be able to continue receiving calls and texts. You will be able to call US and Canadian numbers without international credits, but it you want to call a local New Zealand number you will still need international credits for outgoing calls.

If for any reason texting your number doesn't work, there's no other way for someone to reach you on your TextNow account. They might be better off emailing you if you're concerned about not receiving your texts.

I have textnow because i have wifi at home. When i go to walmart, my phone goes right into their wifi. The problem is that i have no phone from home to store. Its only 2 miles. How can i keep my phone "alive" when theres no wifi? Also, does textnow have live operators to answer questions?

Hey Paula! We do have live chat support, available on textnow.com/wireless between the hours of 10am-5:30pm EST.

With regards to the ability to use TextNow off of Wi-Fi, the only plan that would grant you that would be a wireless plan with us. We recently introduced the Starter Plan, which allows you unlimited texting and calling through the TextNow app for only $9.99/month!

Now, this would mean that you would either need to also order a SIM card from us to activate your own phone, or purchase one of our phones :)

Do you cover the Humboldt Iowa Area
    Zip codes 50548& 50519
Been asking for 2 weeks with no response. And your coverage map is not very clear. How do I speak with a human?

Hey Robin! Our live chat support is available on the bottom right-hand side of this page between 10am-5:30pm EST.

With regards to coverage, if you were to purchase one of our own phones or activate your own CDMA phone, you should have excellent coverage in the 50548 area, however, little to none in the 50519 area.

If you're looking to activate your own GSM phone, then unfortunately we can't offer you coverage in either of those areas.
