Kindle Fire Support

Hello, I just wanted to put forth the request / suggestion to TextNow of updating the app for Amazon Kindle.  I have a Kindle Fire 8 HD (7th generation) that I just purchased and I love it...except that TextNow in the Amazon App store isn't compatible with this device.

Please consider putting some work into this to make it compatible with the new Kindles...it makes good business sense and may be a good gateway to gaining more customers.

Thank you!

Please, lets get this on the Kindle, I have a 4th Generation and it doesn't show up as a downloadable app. I can help if needed. Or is it some kind of other issues? I am more than happy to help on the app.

Hi James,

We are not currently working on TextNow for Kindle, but we appreciate the suggestion and will keep this in mind if we decide to expand our services in the future.

Why has TextNow chosen not to "currently" work on making an app available for the Kindle Fire?  The answer, which is only speculative pondering, seems to point to one of three possible explanations.

1.) Customer demand has not been high enough for this product ; extended work would not be worthwhile.  Simply put... ⬆ effort, does not = ⬆ profit, and thus is not a priority.....

2.) Access to the Amazon marketplace is unattainable. Possibly due to a lack of demand.

3.) TextNow has been unable to meet the technical requirements to gain access to the Amazon marketplace.

***  More than likely, the explanation for TextNow's decision, is a combination of some, or all of the above conjecture. Either way, TextNow remains unwillingly, or unable, to offer a platform in the Amazon marketplace.  This is unfortunate for those of us who use their devices quite a bit, and would love to have the convenience of an application.

Rather than speculation, I would much prefer, an explanation from TextNow!

Hi there! You are correct in your assumptions. Currently, the percentage of users on devices outside of Android and iOS is not high enough to sustain constant development. Being a smaller company, we need to prioritize our resources.
Should the demographic change, we would certainly reprioritize.

Our apologies for the inconvenience!

Update:  to anyone interested...it is possible to side load the app on your kindle.  It took a little work, but it is an option.  You can send and receive texts, you can listen to voice mail, but you won't be able to make or receive calls on the textnow app while using a kindle.

There is a similar app you can down load from the Amazon App store as an alternative to textnow as another option.

Enjoy this discussion forum while it lasts!  This reminds me of the early days of Netflix.  I remember when we could discuss / comment on the movies we watched.  As a company grows these things get taken away.

Strange it is! I had the TextNow app fully functional with this Amazon Kindle Fire tablet I am using right now. It was from APK Pure as the source. That was about two years ago. Now, I am realizing that I should have kept it installed because TextNow is storable onto a micro-sd storage card! Unike TextMe and NextPlus that require internal storage. Line 2 is allowable on this tablet I am using and it only takes up about 15 MB of total storage within internal storage. I am keeping Line 2 saved in my Cloud Library.
