Porting or Transferring a TextNow provide number out of TextNow to MetroPCS/T-Mobile.

Exactly how, step by step does another provider port a textnow number to their carrier.. MetroPCS says the number shows up as unknown carrier..

So how is another carrier supposed to access the number to transfer it, using our username & 1234pin or whatever pin?

I would like a more detailed answer.. so I know what to tell the person at MetroPCS(T-Mobile).

Exactly how and where do they enter my username and pin?

Our of curiousity I stopped by the other day at the MetroPCS store and asked about transferring the number. The person tried the number to see what would happen and it showed as provider unknown.. Whether unknown or known... how does the person enter a username and pin to port then number?

@Elmer:

There are third-party companies that facilitate the transfer of numbers from one carrier to another.

Basically, what happens is the new carrier enters the relevant information for the customer's phone number with that third party company - account number, PIN, billing address if needed, etc. - and then once that company approves the port the number is transfered from the old carrier to the new carrier.

Different companies may have different portals to access these third-party companies, depending on how their internal system is set up.

Hope that helps!

Hi Elmer,

I'm not sure how Metro PCS completes their porting requests so you may need to contact them for further details therein, but at least from our end, you'll be providing them with the mentioned info, which then gets submitted into their own porting system which automates the migration of the number for you.

They may ask you for additional info, including your address, first and last name, zip code and beyond, but I'm sure this won't conflict with any info we have on file.

In other words, I'm confident that by offering them your Account number and PIN, and letting them know that you're porting in a number, that you should be good to go from there.

Naturally, if you run into any obstacles, just let me know at orders@TextNow.com and I'll go the distance to get this sorted for you.

Cheers, Eric

Okay... since the provider name comes up as unknown when they type in my number... what company do I tell them to put in with the number, if they can even do that..

Sprint? Textnow? Enflick? Voip Enflick?

Hey Elmer,

If the other provider has requested a company name go ahead and use TextNow. That should be fine.

Let us know if you have any other questions and we will be glad to answer them for you. Kevin

When I stopped in the MetroPCS store and had them try my Textnow number... the number came as carrier not known... And the attendant told me that he could not port it in..
That is what I am wondering... if it doesn't show up as TextNow... what do I do?
When I do a whitepages.com search of the number, it comes up as Enflick.

Hey Elmer,

we have completed successful ports to Metro PCS in the past. I think it would be advantageous if you call into Metro PCS and talk to their porting team. They will let you know with certainty what information you need to provide in order to complete the port. Typically you they will need your account number and pin.

You can send us an email requesting any information and for additional assistance at orders@textnow.com. Looking forward to hearing from you

The account number would be your text now phone number and pin would be xxxx, you would however have to get through to the TextNow Customer Service via chat to confirm the address they have listed for you!

Just went through the process with Boost Mobile.

Hey Alicia! While this information may apply to some accounts, it does not apply to all (such as ones that originally ported their number in).

We also would prefer that pin numbers aren't shared, as those are a breach of security.

But we do thank you for your response, and hopefully you can help out more in the community if you see any other questions you can answer :)

The best way to port out of TextNow is to go a bigger carrier like ATT or TMobile and then if you want to go to Metro or Mint you could choose that.

I was stuck with TextNow from past 2 months trying to port in to Mint, those guys were unable to do, but TM did it in 1 day. Took this decision late, have my learnings, but try porting to a bigger carrier and then back to MVNO's or any smaller carrier.

Hey Latonya! Just to confirm, are you looking to activate your own phone with our wireless service and continue using your TextNow phone number, or port in a phone number from another carrier?

I am trying to port my number from TextNow  7202661716 and I can't, which is illegal.  Gov't WLNP guidelines allow any carry to port a number out.  This seems hidden.  But I am not aware of what this PIN should be.  SUPER FRUSTRATING.
