Username

Can you change your username? If so plz give me some directions. thanks

Hey Hailey,

Thanks for reaching out. The username is the only part of the account that cannot be changed. However, if you create a new account we'll be happy to move the phone number and email address over to the new account for you. I'll send you an email and you can reply with your account information and we'll get this taken care of.

Simply create your new account, and contact us at orders@textnow.com with your information, so we may move your number over to the new one (with the new username).

how long does it normally take to get a number switched to a different username / account?

If you're wanting to swap numbers between 2 TextNow accounts it will only have a couple minutes. If you're interested in porting a number from another carrier that can take up to 5 business days. Hey Abid! I'm afraid that your username is the only piece of information that we cannot edit on your account. 

You are welcome to open up a new account with a new email and the desired username.

i sent a text today and on the other end (not a text now number) it came out as myusername@textnow bla bla bla. i thought this was never supposed to happen

Hey Robert!

This was a temporary work-around as part of an issue we were experiencing where messages to Verizon numbers were being blocked, and never received. 

We've since reached a resolution with Verizon, and your messages should be sending normally again!
