DESKTOP PC PROBLEM: WINDOWS SEVEN OPERATING SYSTEM

This is NOT about the Win 10 mobile or desktop app.  It is about TextNow.exe located in C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Programs\TextNow\ which was downloaded from the textnow website via this url: https://desktop-installer.textnow.com/TextNow+Setup+1.0.10.exe

I posted about this issue before but the support person wrote me off as a mobile user and didn't address my actual problem.

The problem is that on the PC, when I send or receive a call, the other person can never hear me but I can hear them just fine.

My microphone is definitely working.  The drivers are installed, and when I open the sound settings and make noise, the green bars rise as I speak.  This is me going "AAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" at the microphone:  

When I use other software to record (Virtual Dub, OBS Studio) or voice chat (Skype, Discord) the microphone works fine for those as well.  The microphone is definitely picking up audio, however TextNow.exe does not seem to be receiving it or sending it to the people on the call with me, and there is no way via the programs settings to select or test the microphone.

I found it odd that other programs that use the microphone have a setting that lets you choose a recording device/input device, but TextNow.exe does not.  None of the settings mention the microphone at all. 


None of the other settings subheaders (Account, Password, Notifications, Messaging, and Security & Login) had microphone options. The "Account" menu only has "Logout", the "Edit" menu only has text editing options (undo, redo, cut, copy, paste, and select all), and "View" and "Help" don't have microphone options either.

So my question is this:  Is it possible to make calls via Windows 7 DESKTOP with TextNow.exe, or does TextNow just hate anything Microsoft and will only work on Mac, Linux, iOS, or Droid?

Hey there! So after going over this with our development team, I'm afraid to say that we don't officially support Windows 7 machines with our app. So unfortunately, I do not have any troubleshooting options for you other than to try and install the latest version of the desktop app from our site.

..Would it Honestly Be that hard or Difficult to get a team working on a patch or update that would solve this issue??  

WE NEED FUNCTIONALITY  and VERSATILITY

This NEEDS to be worked on.

There are still a great percentage of people still using   Windows 7. I feel that you should have had this solved already.

At this point in time, considering we are still a small company, we have to prioritize our resources, and unfortunately, the percentage of users on Windows 7 is not large enough to efficiently allocate those resources. 

I understand this may be frustrating, however, our web browser is still available for calling and texting, should you need it!

Will updating to Windows 10 help?  In the other thread I was told windows 10 mobile wasn't supported and the OS's are pretty much the same.

Or does the phone bit of TextNow only work for Mac OS, iOS, and Droid?

Windows 10 is certainly supported! 

What we don't support are Windows phones. However, a Windows 10 OS on a desktop should support our desktop app.
