Mobile hot spot and tethering

The HTC Bolt that I purchased from you has the capabilities to tether and be used as a hot spot. But when I click on the button it says that I am not subscribed to the service. How do I get this activated

Hi Aaron,

I've gone ahead and enable the tethering feature for your HTC Bolt for you to try out. Please keep in mind that TextNow does not officially support hotspots/tethering so you can test it out but we cannot guarantee it'll work on every device.

Hi Norma,

Tethering is already enabled on your phone. You should be able to simply turn on the Hotspot feature in your phone Settings to use it!

I need my Hotspit feature turned on. I have Unlimited Data Plan, it worked all last month, but when the billing cycle renewed, I now get hotspot error, saying Im unsubscribed

Hi Caryn,

I've taken a look at your account and it looks like you've already exceeded 23GB of data usage since your plan renewed 6 days ago. As a result your hotspot feature has been disabled until your data is reset after your next payment. Hotspot data is only available for the first 23GB of data provided on the Unlimited plan.

I am having a similar problem with my LG Stylo2. It says I am not subscribed to the service, yet it only started that today. It has worked well since I got my unlimited plan, then suddenly, it stopped. Please advise.

Hi Jim,

The account you're currently using has used over 23GB of LTE data since your started your plan so the hotspot functionality has been restricted until the plan renews at your next billing cycle. Once the plan renews your hotspot functionality will automatically be re-enabled.

Hey Linda! Apologies for the delay in getting back to you.

Your phone already has the tethering enabled on our end, you can find the setting to set it up in your phone's settings (Networks)

Okay I just been messaging about my Hotspot not working or it was working and then it quit but I forgot to say also that I understand that I got this promotion thing so that I got you know free call and texting all that pill you know 2019 or whatever it is but I want to have unlimited everything like whatever it cost I'll pay it but when I got to make a payment the highest payment it would allow me to make with $20 I don't get it I can only pay in $20 increments kind of not fair when I use a debit card and they charged me $3 and something cents every time I use it so I was just wondering how can I get unlimited everything Hotspot data everything and just have it like direct depositing it off my card

Hey John! You are already on the highest data plan that we have (with a promotional 30GB of hotspotting data instead of 23GB). Since you have used up those 30GB, you are on the slower 2G speeds for the rest of the billing cycle, and hostpotting will not be available to you during this time.

I do apologize for the inconvenience!

Okay I got your message about I've used up my gigabytes that was offered on the promotion plan but I added $20 to my account shouldn't that have done something and now I can't even catch it says you're not allowed to text that was supposed to be Unlimited

Hey John! That $20 account credit is simply sitting there now to be used toward your next paying billing cycle (which will be in January)

Our system does not allow for more data than your Unlimited plan, so adding credits will not "buy you" more data. If you'd like, I can refund that charge for you.

Can you please confirm what issues you're running into with sending a text?

I understand unlimited is not really unlimited, but could you check my hotspot feature. I have three text now plans and phones but one this one gets the most use. One in fact gets no use as I can't find the dang thing.

Hey Rob, your hotspotting should be enabled still. I see that your billing date rolled over today, so you should be able to use it again (if you were barred from doing so earlier due to reaching your high-speed limit)

I have an unlocked Moto 5G Plus that I installed a TextNow SIM card into. Everything works but tethering. Can this be activated for my account?

Hey John! I'm terribly sorry for the inconvenience, however, we don't support hotspotting with our GSM service.

Hey Tim! We don't block sites for hostpotting on our end. Additionally, there is no LG device that is active on your account? So we would need further information from you.

Please head over to our live chat support between 10am-5:30pm EST for further assistance!

I'd like to get this turned on for my Galaxy S7 and my son's Blade ZTE Max if possible.

Hey Marvin! The hotspotting is already enabled for your S7 from our end, you just need to turn it on in your phone's settings.

Unfortunately, since your son's phone is using our GSM SIM card, we can't enable it for him as it's only available to our CDMA devices.
