I am having the same issue.
com.sec.epdg pops up on my screen every 5 sec since phone update. It pretty much makes the phone useless

Hi Brandon and N P,
We've found that the following steps can help resolve this issue, if however the issue persists after you will need to factory reset your phone
1. Go to settings > general management > reset > reset network settings > reset > reset
2. Then go to Apps > click 3 dots and click show system apps > find and click on com.sec.epdg > storage > clear data > go back one screen > force stop > yes
3. Restart phone
Brandon, since you are using our premium application rather than a phone purchased from us, you may want to contact your carrier before attempting any reset to see if they can assist you further if this does not work for you.
I am suffering the same issue after updating to I believe Android 9.0 on my Galaxy S7. I attempted the fix provided and it did not work. I would prefer not to do a factory reset if I don't have to.
I am having the same issue. Is there any way to roll back the update instead? Factory resetting the phone is a large pain
I'm afraid that if the above steps did not work for your phone a factory reset will be required. We recommend that you ensure that all important information (contacts, photos, music etc) are backed up before you initiate a factory reset.
I have a textnow provided S7 that asked to perform an upgrade and I allowed it. Now I have the same issue as everyone else. The solution to clear data didn't work. What is the safest way to backup all my data so that a factory reset will be a painless as possible?
You can save all of your important information to your Google account on your S7 so that when the Google account is added back to the phone after the reset your information will be restored.
I might recommend that you take a look at this Samsung Support article for details on backing up your phone!
Note that article shows how to back up your Google data, but there may be other data you should back up. You should go through your apps 1 by 1 and see if they have a backup / restore option. This could be especially important if you use your phone for 2 factor authentication - make sure you can reset your authentication for any service you use.
I've had the same issue since OS update on TextNow purchased S7. At first the clear data worked but I needed to power down for new screen protector and now no clearing will work. I do not want to do a factory reset, but am close to throwing phone through wall. General management reset and clear did not work.
Hey Shawn! Unfortunately, it does not seem as though Samsung has released a fix for this issue yet. At this point in time, a factory reset is your best option.
I did a factory reset. One thing that happened was I could not re-install the Google launcher that I was using since it's incompatible with the new version of Android. I wonder if this may be causing some of the problems - probably not, but may be worth trying switching back to TouchWiz if you're using a different launcher.
One more unhappy customer!
Factory reset worked but wish I didn't have to. Lost progress on couple games but that was only time lost. Wife's phone did same thing and only solution was factory reset. Someone needs to come up with a resolution.
im looking for my latest callers and messages from the last month 2266460157
Hey Steve! If that information is not found in your account's messaging/calling homescreen view, then I'm afraid we won't be able to retrieve it for you
