Price of ad free

Has the price of ad free gone up? I paid 3.99 for my last number but now it's showing as 12.99 monthly.

Hey there! We did recently increase our prices alongside the launch of our Free Nationwide Talk & Text service in the U.S.

So, the monthly ad-free rate has tripled? I already have free calling and texting and don't need that extra service. I just want ad-free. Disappointing! I won't be recommending TextNow anymore.

Oh! I certainly agree that $12.99/mo is MUCH too much to remove the ads for legacy-type TextNow accounts!

I could understand that removing ads for the new standalone/Sprint data accounts should cost a little more than $3.99/mo, but $12.99/mo seems excessive even for that!

Valeria, it might be worth suggesting to upper management that returning to the $3.99/mo fee to remove ads for legacy-type accounts might be better.  I can't imagine ANYONE paying $12.99/mo for that!

Hey Dave! Thank you for your feedback.

Any users who were already on the $2.99 USD/$3.99CAD subscriptions remained on it. These changes only went out to any new subscription upgrades. Unfortunately, if you did not already have it, or let it expire before the changes, you would only be able to upgrade again at the new price.

That would have been nice to know before I let me number expire because I needed a different one.

Hi,

I recently canceled my monthly fee as I wanted to go on the yearly fee. In the comment field that's  the reason I put for cancelling as I was going to sign up for yearly.... To my surprise I can not find the yearly fee and my monthly add free fee would now be $12.99. That's absolutely horrible as I have a cell phone but was using your number it for in my house where my cell / text service is poor as we are in a valley. I only use the Wifi not data. The large adds are awful..... they confuse me so much I can't remember what I was doing.

Could you please contact me privately. i would like to go on the yearly fee and not 12.99 a month..

I have realized there is confusing info about the current ad-free cost.

I see $12.99/mo mentioned in this thread.

But in my TextNow app, it shows "Ad Free+ Monthly $9.99" and Ad Free+ Yearly $99.99".

Why is there a price discrepancy?

Thanks.

Hi Carol, Can you please reach out to our chat support team directly so we can take a look at your account and see if we can help up resubscribe with the annual subscription? Our chat support team is available from 10am-5:30pm ET daily.

Hi Dave, The price discrepancy is a result of the exchange rates. The premium subscription is USD$9.99/month or USD $99.99/year. The $12.99/month fee would likely represent the cost in Canadian dollars in this case.

Been paying $4.99 a month for the last 5 or 6 years.
Subscription went up on me randonly.
No way i am paying $12.99USD in Canada just to remove a few adds.
No referring this app to anyone anymore and many of the customers i have brought to Textnow over the years i am informing to use a different app.
Whoever spearheaded this change should be questioned.
Even my 12 year old daughter knew to set up a subscription just for the customers who only wants the adds
Removed.

Thank You for the years of service, i really enjoyed that app, having a second number has really helped

I'm fairly new user and as I wouldn't mind paying few CAD for add removal and locking phone number, paying $10 a month is definitely not an option. For that money, I can almost get 'real' phone number with Public Mobile or some other company. This is something that TextNow should be considering as an option as I don't know who will pay that price. Especially with that new Free nationwide service is US only, not Canada.

I also unsubscribed months ago and tried to resubscribe only to find out the price has gone up $3.99 CAD to $12.99 CAD. I gave up on resubscribing. Textnow is the loosing out here (not me) because there is no way i am paying $12.99 CAD monthly.
