Data Connectivity Problems [CDMA]

Please note: These following steps are for TextNow CDMA devices only. For GSM devices, see our Support article here



If your data connection is intermittent, or your device is having a hard time connecting to 3G/4G, please follow the steps below to resolve this. Also, please ensure you have wifi available before performing these steps:

For most Android phones:

  1. Go to Settings > WiFi and slide Wifi on if it is not already enabled.
  2. Connect to a Wi-Fi network if you're not already connected. You might need to know the password for the wifi network in order to connect. 
  3. Turn Airplane Mode off if it's on. You can usually find Airplane Mode under Settings > More... or Settings > More Settings .
  4. Go to Settings > More... (or More Settings) > Mobile Networks > Mobile Data> Toggle it OFF and back ON
  5. Go to Settings > More... (or More Settings) > Roaming > Roaming Network > Change this to Sprint Only.
  6. Go to Settings > System Update > Update PRL 
  7. Go to Settings > System Update > Update Profile (device may reboot)
  8. Test by launching Chrome or another browser.

For Samsung Galaxy devices running Android Kit-Kat or Lollipop:

  1. Go to Settings > Connections tab > slide WiFi on (if it is not already enabled)
  2. Connect to a Wi-Fi network if you are not already connected to one
  3. Go to Settings > Connections tab > More Networks > and make sure Airplane mode is off
  4. Go to Settings > Connections tab > More Networks > Mobile Networks > Mobile Data > Toggle it OFF and back ON
  5. Go to Settings > Connections tab > More Networks > Roaming > Roaming Network > Change this to Home Only.
  6. Go to Settings > More tab > System Updates > Update PRL 
  7. Go to Settings > More Tab > System Updates > Update Profile (device may reboot)
  8. Test by launching the Chrome or another browser.

For Motorola Devices:

  • Go to Settings > slide WiFi on if it is not already enabled.
  • Connect to a Wi-Fi network if you are not already connected to one
  • Go to Settings > More > make sure Airplane mode is off
  • Go to Settings > Data usage > Mobile Data > Toggle it OFF and back ON
  • Go to Settings > System Updates > Update PRL 
  • Go to Settings > System Updates > Update Profile (your device may reboot)
  • Test by launching Chrome or another browser.

    I purchased the samsung galaxy s6 from your company and I cant use any data no texting sending or receiving unless Im near wifi. I called and tbe issue still isnt resolved. Im highly upset. I cant get calls while Im at work so my kids need to contact via text and they cant. I paid all this,money for a phone that is useless.

    Hey LaShayla! It seems as though you did speak to a representative yesterday morning and they were able to confirm that your data was indeed working during the call.

    Everything on our end seems to be indicating that you have a data signal, however, if that is not the case, please reach out to us once again (perhaps it'd be easier to do so on live chat support on textnow.com/wireless) so we can test this out even more!

    My device will not connect to any network I cannot make calls or receive calls all of the settings are in the correct place the mobile data is on the airplane mode is turned off it is saying network not connected and the bill is already paid for this month will I get credit for the days that this device is not acting right?

    My s7 came a few days ago. At first I was unable to use data at all and gave me that message and two others. I followed the steps but nothing changed. Now I'm also unable to send texts when off wifi but I can still make calls.?

    My phone works fine with Wi-Fi no problems but I don't have Wi-Fi at the moment and it's not wanting to work good at all. I didn't know that i had to have Wi-Fi all the time to use my phone if that is true I'll probably be getting a new phone with another company because i can't afford Wi-Fi at the moment.

    The Sprint Network in my area of Nevada has been down for as long as five days in a row during the past month. Early every morning it goes down and as I type this I have no connection. Usually it's up and running by noon. It's getting ridiculous.

    Unfortunately I'm on day 3 of no service. It's virtually impossible to try and catch live chat as I drive around town at 4:32 PST searching for a wifi connection.

    I actually have three paid text now plans, but unfortunately Sprint's infastructure stinks. In the past 30 days I've had no less then 20 service interputions with the longest being almost six days. Living just 40 miles outside of Las Vegas dependable signal is essential in this rual area in which many commute.

    Free TextNow numbers do not officially support 3rd party app verifications. If Whatsapp does not recognize your TextNow number we are not able to override that on our end.

    I have an iPhone and want to get the talk and text plan that is $9.99 but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to text or call if not on WiFi. I can text or call already when I’m on WiFi but I want to know if I’ll be able to text or call with that plan if I don’t have WiFi

    I had conection problems and was kinda rude to the man named bryan that help i tried and tried everything he said to do and wss very agitated still he was very polite and kept trying new thing to check finally he got it i was disconected before i could thank him ... if it woild of been me in his shoes i would of hung up on my rude ass so.......... thank u so so much "BRYAN" BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE IVE HAD IN A LOOOOOOONG TIME !!!!
