Sending texts with TextNow is easy, and we've recently redesigned our TextNow app to make texting even easier. We've made some videos for each platform to walk you through it, or you can scroll down for some written help:

1. Open your TextNow app.
2. You should be in your conversations inbox in TextNow. If not, tap on the menu button in the top left-hand corner and tap Conversations.
3. You should see a compose button with a pencil icon in the bottom right of your screen (on Android) or the top right of your screen (on iOS):

3. At the top of the page, enter your contact's text number or texting address. You can also tap on the icon to the immediate right of this field to select a contact from your device's Contacts app.
4. At the bottom of the screen, type your message in the field that says Type A Message.

How do I know if my text has been delivered and if the person opened my message on text now?

There is no way to know for sure if the text was opened from your end but as long as you did not receive any error messages, the text should have sent properly.
We do not have a "Read Receipt" feature to give you notification when the text is actually opened but I will pass along the suggestion to our app developers!

I would like to know if I get monthly plan would I then be able to place calls or text the old fashioned way, without internet? This has been hard to find out
Hey Shawn! Since our service is VoIP in nature, you will still need to be able to place calls and texts over an internet network, whether that be Wi-Fi or the data that we provide you with in our plans!

As far as I know, it says all plans have unlimited calls and texts. I have not been able to send a text.

Please make sure that you're making all calls and texts through the TextNow application directly. If you try to send a text through the phone's native messaging app it will likely give you and error message since you're using our wireless service.
If the texts aren't going through when using the TextNow app, please reach out to us through our live chat portal so we can get more details and assist you further.
I am trying to sign up for a service and they are wanting to send a text message code for verification, but it seems to not work with my phone number, any way to correct this?

Hi Sara! The inactivity period will differ across accounts. A good rule of thumb is to send a message or call once every 3 days. You would need to initiate the conversation, however. Receiving texts or calls does not count toward your activity.

That option is not currently available, although we are considering various changes that may be beneficial to our users. At this time though you will have to use the number regularly to keep it on your account, or upgrade to our premium service for a month if you know you won't be able to use the service but want to keep your number locked in.

Hey there! On our own phones/service, you can only use the TextNow app exclusively for all calling/texting.
I can’t send txt message to any were thay write : txt messaging on this number currently not supported !!
